Kiwi Invasion!
September 28, 2008
Actually Kiwi is from the USA but the founders had spent time in New Zealand and loved the whole experience so much they decided to name their brand after New Zealand's enduring symbol!
After returning to the US, they soon realised what they
left behind - a lifestyle reminiscent of the past, where
material "things" were replaced with "free time". Time in New
Zealand was about simplicity: about walking instead of
driving, hanging their clothes on the line, inventing
adventurous games, collecting sea urchins in a tidal pool or snails
under a neighborhood Ponga tree.
Kiwi Industries is about capturing this time, through its
children's clothing and gift line. Natural, organic, and recycled
fibres are used to create classic designs with a modern twist.
Using only high quality fabric, reminiscent of an earlier time
before "throw-away" clothing, their clothing truly gets softer and
softer with time. Wear it, wash it, pass it down from child to
child.
Kiwi believe in a sustainable environment. They use socially
responsible production (a living wage, sweatshop free). They print
on recycled paper, offer reusable packaging,
and try not to waste resources. Kiwi is passionate
about social and environmental awareness, using skal-certified
organic cotton, as well as working through final stages of "shared
responsibility", where a portion of their profits are passed
directly to four environmental groups.
Kiwi clothing - simply made to last a lifetime, through wild
outdoor adventures, through a magical world of make-believe,
through pure, natural fun!
