Based in Perth, Jolie was started by Anita Duncan. As a health conscious young woman, Anita always did the right thing by her body - so she was understandably shaken by two abnormal pap smears and an unexplained miscarriage within just five years.

"At just 26, I discovered after a regular pap smear that I had abnormal cell growth, which was very emotional and stressful. This however wasn't to be the last, five years later another abnormal cell growth was found, which was closely followed by a miscarriage - it was very emotional and an incredibly distressing time," she said.

Shocked and frustrated, Anita began to question what could be affecting her health and started researching the effects of toxins on the body, which was a journey that led to a complete overhaul of the products she was using in her home as well as personal hygiene products. When she took a close look at all the products she was usingshe was disturbed to find what was going into her body - the tampons I'd been using were made from cotton that could potential have been sprayed with pesticides and bleached with chlorine.

From that discovery, Jolie was born.
